The range

Eighteen products, one tag

Library RFID equipment falls into six families: self-service kiosks, return units, sorting modules and their destinations, security gates, mobile stocktaking readers, and management software. All read the same HF 13.56 MHz tag encoded to ISO 28560, and all talk to your LMS over SIP2 or NCIP. You can therefore buy them in whatever order suits your budget.

The tables below give the manufacturer's published figures. Where a value is not published, we say so rather than fill the gap. The full product pages, with the manufacturer's document reference for each table, are in French.

What this table does not answer

A datasheet says what a device does. It does not say whether it is justified in your building. A sorter with five destinations installed in a library handling 40,000 returns a year will cost more than it saves, and no line of the specification will warn you.

The three figures that actually decide a configuration are your collection size, your annual transactions and the share of audiovisual stock. Send us those and we will come back with an argued configuration, including what you do not need.

If you arrived here first, the English overview explains what each family of equipment is for before you compare specifications.

Close-up of a sorting line with items landing in destination bins
A sorting line seen close up. Each destination is one module, one bin and the circulation space to take it away, which is why floor length decides more than throughput does.
Frequently asked

What people ask first

Can we mix equipment from several manufacturers ?

In principle yes, since an ISO 28560 tag is readable by any compliant hardware. The practical difficulty is the data model chosen at encoding, and the handling of security: some estates use the EAS bit, others the AFI value. A mixed estate works provided that point is settled and documented before the collection is tagged, not after.

What is a typical lead time ?

It depends on the family and the configuration. A standard kiosk ships in weeks; a sorter needs a layout study first and takes considerably longer. We give a firm date at quotation stage, never before we have seen the drawings.

Are the full datasheets available ?

Yes. Each French product page cites the manufacturer's document reference, for example 260.008.007 for the LibDeco F20. Ask us for a sheet by its number and we will send the current version, in English where one exists.

Some figures seem to be missing.

They are, and deliberately so. The F10 weight and load, the W20 weight, and the 1300 C2 footprint and throughput are not published on the sheets we hold. We flag them as missing rather than estimate them, and we will request them from the manufacturer for your tender.

Unsure about one specific point ?

Ask it the way it arises in your building. We answer on your configuration rather than in general terms.
